Abstract: Objective Retrospective analysis of the five-year medication consultation services provided by Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, identifying patterns of medication problems, sharing service experience, and improving service quality. Methods Review all medication consultation records of our hospital's medication consultation center from 2015 to 2019, classify consultation questions, and use Pareto chart method for statistics and analysis. Results The number of medication consultation services in our hospital has shown an upward trend in the past five years. A total of 61 759 questions answered, with an average daily service of 50 people. We divide the types of consultation questions into 5 categories, complex medication consultation (4 283, 6.93%), simple drug-related questions (4 892, 7.92%), other non-medical content (6 422, 10.40%), drug inventory (16 291, 26.38%), decoction questions (29 871, 48.37%). Conclusions Through the classification and statistics of outpatient medication consultation records, it can be seen that the types and proportions of consultation questions are relatively stable. Pareto analysis helps to identify the main needs of patients and promote continuous improvement in the pharmaceutical department to ensure reasonable medication use for patients.
