Investigation of Vitamin D Levels and Analysis of Related Influence Factors in 3 270 Children between 0-12 Years Old in Taian Area

Abstract: Objective To investigate the current prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency among children aged 0-12 years in Tai'an area,In order to provide scientific basis for the development of targeted and effective strategies and measures for the control of vitamin D deficiency in children. Methods Data were extracted from healthy children who vistid the Taian City Central Hospital from April 2020 to April 2021.A total of 3 270 children aged 0-12 years were randomly selected. The levels of vitamin D were detected and compared. Results The average level of vitamin D in 3 270 children was (32.58±15.91) ng/mL, the lowest value was 3 ng/mL, the highest value was 70 ng/mL. The vitamin D deficiency rate was 10.16%, the insufficiency rate was 14.31%. Children aged 6 and over were severely deficient in vitamin D, and the vitamin D levels in winter and spring were lower than those in summer and autumn. Conclusion Vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency are common in Taian area. In univariate analysis and logistic regression analysis, Age and seasons were influencing factors of vitamin D deficiency. Effective prevention should be carried out to guideline vitamin D supplementation.
