Objective To explore the effect of using the ESPCS education model and progressive functional rehabilitation nursing in elderly patients with OTLF. Methods A total of 82 elderly OTLF patients from October 2022 to October 2023 who were admitted in Beijing Peking Union Medical College Hospital were selected, and divided into the intervention group (n=41, ESPCS education and progressive functional rehabilitation care) and the control group (n=41, routine nursing care) by different intervention methods . The knowledge and cognitive level of osteoporosis, pain level, lumbar spine function, daily living ability, and health behavior in both groups were compared. Results After intervention, the cognitive scores of osteoporosis knowledge in both groups were increased, and in comparision of the control group, the intervention group was higher (P<0.05). After intervention, VAS and ODI scores in both groups were decreased, and in comparision of the control group, the intervention group was lower (P<0.05). After intervention, the ADL scores in both groups were increased, and in comparision of the control group, the intervention group was higher (P<0.05). After intervention, the health behavior scores in both groups were increased, and in comparision of the control group, the intervention group was higher (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of ESPCS education model and progressive functional rehabilitation nursing in elderly OTLF patients can improve lumbar spine function, healthy behavior, enhance knowledge and cognitive level of osteoporosis, daily living ability, and alleviate pain level.
