Clinical Effect of Moxibustion at Baihui and Yongquan Acupoints on Patients with Primary Insomnia with Cardio-Renal Incompatibility

Abstract: Objective To compare with conventional western medicine, to observe the clinical efficacy advantages of moxibustion at Baihui and Yongquan points in the treatment of primary insomnia of heart-kidney disharmony type. Methods A randomized RCT design was adopted, and 60 qualified subjects were included. Divide into two groups using random number table method. Experimental group (n=30): Acupuncture treatment based on moxibustion Baihui and Yongquan, once a day for 2 weeks; Control group (n=30): Oral estazolam tablets, 1 mg/time, once a day , take the medicine half an hour before going to bed for 2 weeks. Observed indicators were Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) ,Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Score,clinical efficacy. Results After 2 consecutive weeks of treatment, the total PSQI score of the test group was significantly lower than the total score of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The total SDS score of the experimental group was significantly lower than the total score of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The TCM syndrome score of the experimental group was significantly lower than the total score of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Comparing the clinical efficacy, the total effective rate of the test group was 93.33%, and the total effective rate of the control group was 86.67%. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Moxibustion at Baihui and Yongquan points has significant clinical efficacy in treating primary insomnia of heart-kidney disharmony type.
