The Effect of Tongguan Liqiao Acupuncture Therapy on Swallowing Function and Quality of Life in Patients with Dysphagia after Stroke

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effect of Tongguan Liqiao acupuncture in patients with dysphagia after stroke (DAS) and its influence on swallowing function and quality of life. Methods A total of 90 DAS patients admitted to the First People's Hospital of Pingyuan County from April 2021 to August 2022 were selected as the study objects, and were divided into control group (45 cases included and given routine rehabilitation training) and observation group (45 cases included, plus Tongguan Liqiao acupuncture) according to random number table method. Intergroup clinical response rate, WST, SSA, SWAL-QOL, blood oxygen saturation (SaO2), ALB and Hb were evaluated. Results The clinical effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05); (2) After 2 weeks of treatment, WST and SSA were lower and SWAL-QOL, SaO2, ALB and Hb were higher in the observation group(P<0.05). Conclusion Tongguan Liqiaoacupuncture can improve the swallowing function, nutritional status, SaO2 and quality of life in patients with DAS as soon as possible, which is worth promoting.
