Semen Quality Analysis of 1 381 Men of Childbearing Age in Southern Changping Area of Beijing

Abstract: Objective To investigate the semen quality of men in southern Changping District in recent two years. Methods The semen quality of reproductive-age men who came to Changping District Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western medicine hospital for semen examination during July to June in the 2021 of 2023 was analyzed retrospectively, they were divided into 5 groups according to their ages: ≤25,26~30,31~35,36~40, >40, the semen parameters were analyzed and compared, and the semen parameters were divided into 4 groups according to their ages: A, B, C, D, to compare the changes of male semen quality in recent two years. Results A total of 1,381 male semen samples were collected and sorted. The total semen quality was up to standard in 719 cases, and abnormal semen in 662 cases, there were significant differences in total sperm count, sperm motility, forward motility and survival sperm rate (P<0.05), but there were no significant differences in other parameters with age (P>0.05). The sperm concentration and total sperm count in group D were significantly lower than those in the first 3 groups (P<0.05). Conclusion The semen quality of reproductive-age men in southern Changping District can meet the WHO standard. The main semen abnormalities are sperm total motility, forward motility and survival sperm rate, the sperm concentration and the total number of sperm decreased significantly in the last six months.
