Abstract: As a chronic neurodegenerative disease, dementia is characterized by cognitive memory impairment. The pathogenesis of dementia is complicated, and there are no specific clinical drugs. The basic pathogenesis of dementia is the deficiency of marrow sea and the failure of magic machine. Deficiency of yin essence, qi and blood is based on deficiency; qi, fire, phlegm and blood stasis block brain collaterals inside, so the treatment of dementia needs to regulate viscera from the inside and dredge channels and collaterals from the outside. Abdominal acupuncture therapy has its unique efficacy in the treatment of dementia. It is based on meridians and viscera, with the overall concept and syndrome differentiation of viscera as the core. Abdominal acupoints are longitudinally divided into three layers: heaven, human and earth according to the depth of acupuncture, and each level. According to the location of pathological changes, meridians and related viscera projected on the abdomen, acupoints can play a role in regulating and controlling different systems according to syndrome differentiation. It can regulate the relevant parts of the lesions, meridians and viscera respectively, so as to achieve the purpose of treating both the symptoms and the root causes of dementia. Based on the close relationship between abdomen and brain, this paper organically combines the characteristics of abdominal acupuncture regulating different systems according to levels and parts with the pathogenesis of dementia, and probes into a new idea of clinical application of abdominal acupuncture in the treatment of dementia and other encephalopathy.
