Abstract: Objective To explore the potential for integrating traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) principles with mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) therapy in the treatment of psychosomatic conditions. Methods By reviewing relevant literature on TCM and MBSR, this study compiles their respective roles and advantages in psychosomatic treatments and discusses the potential for their integration. Results TCM is centered on the holistic view and syndrome differentiation-based treatment, emphasizing the unity of body and mind. MBSR primarily utilizes body scan, mindfulness yoga, and sitting meditation to mitigate negative emotions, enhance psychological resilience, and promote overall health. Both approaches emphasize the dual treatment of body and mind. In therapeutic applications, MBSR can reduce perceived psychological stress, improve medication adherence, and facilitate better absorption and utilization of traditional Chinese medicines. Conclusion The integration of TCM and MBSR in psychosomatic treatments holds promise for enhancing the overall efficacy of disease management.
