Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of bilateral nasal covering on short-term and long-term stereovision in children with esotropia and anisometropia. Methods From May 2019 to May 2022, 60 cases of children (120 eyes) with esotropia and anisometropia who were diagnosed and treated at Hancheng People's Hospital were selected. Accorded to the principle of random envelope drawing, the children were divided into two groups with 30 cases in each group. The study group was treated with bilateral nasal covering therapy, while the control group was treated with alternating covering therapy. Two groups were observed for 3 months for covering therapy. Record the recent and long-term changes in stereoscopic vision, total effective rate, and strabismus of the two groups of children, and follow up the recurrence rate of the patients. Results The treatment effect of the study group was significantly better than that of the control group after 3 months of treatment (P<0.05). After 3 months of treatment, the strabismus of the study group and the control group were lower than before treatment (P<0.05), while the study group was lower than the control group (P<0.05). After 3 months of treatment, compared to the proportion of central foveal stereopsis in the control group, that in the study group were higher (P<0.05), while compared to the proportion of peripheral stereopsis in the control group, that in the study group was lower (P<0.05). After 3 months of treatment, the recurrence rates of the study group were lower than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of double nasal side covering method in children with esotropia and anisometropia can improve short-term and long-term stereoscopic vision, promote the reduction of strabismus, improve treatment effectiveness, and also reduce the recurrence rate of strabismus in children.
