Abstract: Objective To investigate the efficacy and influencing factors of root canal therapy after removal of bad prosthesis. Methods A total of 80 patients with bad prostheses admitted to the Red Star Hospital of the 13th Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps from May 2019 to May 2022 were selected. According to the different treatment methods, the patients were divided into study group and control group by random number table, with 40 patients in each group. The patients in the control group were given routine treatment, and the patients in the study group were treated with root canal therapy. The treatment effects, incidence of adverse reactions, VAS scores, tooth activity scores and periodortal index before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The treatment effective rate of the study group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in VAS and tooth activity scores between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). The VAS and tooth mobility scores in both groups were decreased, and the change in the study group was greater than that in the control group (P<0.05). The main adverse reactions in the two groups included pain, redness, hemorrhage, infection, pustules, occlusal disturbance, and soreness in the study group. The incidence of adverse reactions in the study group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). After treatment, the periodontal pocket probing depth (PPD), clinical attachment level loss (CAL), bleeding on probing (BOP), and sulcus bleeding index (SBI) in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The effect of root canal therapy after removing the bad prosthesis can significantly reduce the occurrence of adverse reactions, reduce pain and improve the mobility of tooth, which has a certain reference value in clinical practice.
