Abstract: Objective To explore the disease diagnosis and evaluation value of serum chromaffin A (CgA) in pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PPGL). Methods A total of 80 patients with PPGL who were hospitalized and treated with 131I-metaiodobenzyl guaniodine (131I-MIBG) from June 2017 to June 2021 were selected in Beijing Nuclear Industry Hospital Radionuclide Diagnostic and Treatment Center. Serum CgA levels were detected by double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorptive assay (ELISA), and the expression and significance of CgA in metastatic and advanced PPGL were evaluated. The clinicopathological characteristics (sex, age, tumor functional status, and the presence or absence of distant metastasis) of PPGL patients were recorded, and the levels of CgA were grouped and compared. Results There was no significant difference in serum CgA level in PPGL patients with different gender, age, tumor site and tumor functional status (P>0.05). The level of CgA in PCC group and PGL group was similar, and there was no statistical significance (P>0.05). The level of CgA in the ineffective group was significantly higher than that in the effective group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Serum CgA determination has certain significance in the diagnosis and evaluation value of disease progression and metastatic PPGL.
