Abstract: Objective To observe the preventive effect of Xinhuang tablets mixed with vinegar on Oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neurotoxicity. Methods A total of 122 patients with gastrointestinal malignancy treated with oxaliplatin chemotherapy admitted to the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of a Class III Grade A hospital were randomly divided into two groups: control group (61 cases) and observer group (61 cases). The control group was treated with chemotherapy nursing routine, while the intervention group was treated with Xinhuang Tablet dissolved in vinegar on the local skin around the infusion site on the basis of chemotherapy nursing routine. The incidence of peripheral neurotoxicity, toxicity grade and TCM syndrome score of the two groups were observed. Results Before intervention, there was no significant difference in the incidence of peripheral neurotoxicity between the two groups (P>0.05). After intervention, there was significant difference in the incidence of peripheral neurotoxicity between the two groups (P<0.05). Before intervention, there was no significant difference in the peripheral neurotoxicity grade between the two groups (P>0.05). After intervention, there was significant difference in the peripheral neurotoxicity grade between the two groups after intervention (P<0.05). Before intervention, there was no significant difference in the total score of TCM symptoms, numbness of limbs, cold of hands and feet, mental fatigue, dizziness and adverse flexion and extension scores between the two groups (P>0.05). After intervention, there were statistically significant differences in the total score of TCM symptoms, numbness of limbs, cold of hands and feet, mental fatigue, dizziness and adverse flexion and extension scores between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion External application of Xinhuang Tablets mixed with vinegar can reduce the incidence of Oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neurotoxicity in patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumor chemotherapy, reduce its severity, and obviously improve the TCM syndrome of "cold coagulation blood stasis type " blood arthralgia, which is convenient and feasible.
