Abstract: Objective To investigate hematological and tissue-organ changes in a stable rat model of high altitude polycythemia (HAPC). Methods SD rats were completely randomly divided into plain control group and plateau model group according to hemoglobin value. The control group was raised under plain normoxia. The model group was raised in the "animal model feeding system for a plateau environment mimicking human disease”,which simulated the plateau environment at an altitude of 5 000 m, and hematology, tissue and organ changes of rats were observed. Results After 1 week, the HAPC rat model was established, and the mean HGB reached 204.3 g/L. After 2 to 8 weeks, the mean HGB of rats in the model group gradually dropped; RBC and HCT increased significantly from 2 weeks, continued to week 6;TP and ALB were significantly increased at the 2nd week, UREA at the 4th week, and triglyceride (TG) was significantly increased at the 8th week. The heart and lung index increased significantly from week 2 to week 8, and the kidney index decreased significantly at week 6, with significant pathological changes in heart, lung and kidney. Conclusions High altitude polycythemia model rats were established for 1 week,It can cause organic changes in the heart, lung, liver and kidney tissues and organs after 2-8 weeks.Abnormal lipid metabolism was observed after 8 weeks.
