Application of HAPA Voncept and Path Based Health Education in Nutritional Management of Esophageal Cancer Radiotherapy Patients

Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of applying the Health Behavior Process (HAPA) concept and path based health education in nutritional management of esophageal cancer radiotherapy patients. Methods A total of 86 esophageal cancer radiotherapy patients from November 2020 to November 2023 who were admitted in Nei Meng Gu Autonomous Region People's Hospital were selected, and randomly divided into the intervention group (n=43, HAPA concept and path based health education) and the control group (n=43, routine nutrition management). The cancer-related fatigue, self-management ability, and health behavior in both groups were compared. Results After intervention, the PFS-R scores in both groups were decreased (P<0.05), and the AHSMSRS scores and HPLP-II scores were increased (P <0.05). The PFS-R scores of intervention group was lower than the control group (P<0.05), and the AHSMSRS scores and HPLP-II scores higher than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of HAPA concept and pathway based health education in nutritional management of esophageal cancer radiotherapy patients can improve cancer-related fatigue, enhance self-management ability, and promote the formation of healthy behaviors.
