Abstract: Objective Study on the effect of combined intervention of bundled nursing and traditional Chinese medicine nursing on abdominal distension and constipation in orthopedic bedridden patients. Methods From November 2021 to November 2023, a total of 60 orthopedic patients with abdominal distension and constipation who were admitted to the orthopedic department of our hospital were selected as the study subjects. The patients were divided into two groups using odd and even number method: the control group (n=30) received bundled nursing care, while the observation group (n=30) received combined traditional Chinese medicine nursing intervention based on the control group's nursing. After nursing, the symptoms of abdominal distension and constipation in both groups and the overall intervention effect were evaluated Comparative analysis of quality of life and complications. Results After intervention, the observation group had lower scores on the Self Rating Scale for Abdominal distension and Constipation Symptoms (PAC-SYM) compared to the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); The total effective rate of intervention in the observation group was 96.67%, while in the control group it was 66.67%. The observation group had a higher effective rate, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); The physiological, psychological, and mental state scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); The incidence of complications in the observation group was 3.33%, which was statistically significant compared to 26.67% in the control group(χ2=6.405, P<0.05). Conclusion For patients with abdominal distension and constipation after long-term bed rest in orthopedics, the combination of bundled nursing and traditional Chinese medicine nursing intervention can accelerate the improvement of clinical symptoms and reduce the occurrence of other complications. The quality of life of patients is significantly improved, and the intervention effect is more ideal.
