Abstract: Objective Observing the recurrence of external hemorrhoids in patients under the intervention of pharmacists, in order to explore the application value of online guidance of pharmacists in the prevention and treatment of external hemorrhoids. Methods A total of 108 patients diagnosed with external hemorrhoids who visited Qinzhou Second People's Hospital from January 2018 to June 2022 wree selected as research subjects.According to coin toss, the patients were randomly divided into two groups: control group (54 cases) and observation group (54 cases). The control group was treated with routine local medication in the anorectal department, while the observation group received daily guidance from clinical pharmacists online through the internet on the basis of routine treatment in the control group, including dietary guidance, medication preparation guidance, and lifestyle guidance. The recurrence rate, the average days of illness, the recovery time after treatment and the drug expenses were compared between the two groups. Results After intervention by clinical pharmacists, the recurrence rate of hemorrhoids in the observation group (33.33%) was significantly lower than that in the control group (68.52%) within 2 years, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05).In the observation group, the number of days of illness, the recovery time and the cost of treatment drugs were significantly lower than those in the control group. Moreover, the incidence days, rehabilitation time, and treatment drug costs of patients who experience recurrence of the disease in the observation group were significantly lower than before the intervention, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion In the prevention and treatment of external hemorrhoids recurrence, clinical pharmacists provide online guidance to improve patients' awareness of the disease and compliance with prevention and treatment, which can effectively prevent hemorrhoids recurrence and significantly reduce the recurrence rate of patients.
