Abstract: Secondary muscular atrophy(SMA) is a common neuromuscular disease, commonly seen in middle-aged and elderly patients. The incidence of this disease is relatively high, with a decrease in muscle mass and muscle strength as the main manifestations. The etiology is complex and the clinical manifestations are diverse. At the same time, clinical doctors do not pay enough attention to this disease and fail to provide early intervention and treatment, which can ultimately seriously affect the long-term survival of patients. Although the etiology and pathological mechanism of SMA are not fully understood, significant progress has been made in the study of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine. This review will comprehensively introduce the research progress of the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in SMA, in order to provide some reference for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
