Preliminary Study on the Effect of Emotional Therapy Combined with Peer Support on Compliance and Psychological Status in Elderly Hypertensive Patients

Abstract: Objective To analyze the clinical effects of peer support in elderly patients with hypertension. Methods 118 elderly patients with hypertension who were treated in geriatrics department of Zhejiang Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital from October 2018 to October 2019 were randomly divided into two groups: control group (n=58) and observation group (n=59) by computer random coding method. The control group was given routine nursing intervention, while the observation group was given peer support intervention on the basis of routine nursing. The self-management, Blood pressure level and quality of life of the two groups were observed and compared. Results Compared with before intervention, After the intervention, the scores of medication, diet, mood, work and rest, exercise management and condition monitoring in the two groups increased significantly (P<0.05). After intervention, The blood pressure in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Peer support intervention in patients with hypertension can significantly improve the self-management level of patients, patients' blood pressure and quality of life. This method has high clinical application value and is worthy of application and promotion.
