Abstract: Objective To explore the clinical value of modified catheter in bladder irrigation. Methods From February 2021 to January 2022, 64 patients with bladder tamponade and bladder irrigation who were hospitalized in the department of urology in a tertiary hospital in Deyang City were randomly divided into control group(33 cases) and experimental group(31 cases). The control group was placed with a common three-chamber catheter, and the test group was placed with a modified catheter. The differences between the two groups were compared in terms of length of hospital stay, manual washing time, bladder washing time, indwelling catheter time, the number of bladder spasms, the number of urinary tract infections, comfort, and the satisfaction of patients and nurses. Results Compared with the control group, the number of hospitalization, manual washing time (points), bladder washing time (days), and time (days) were significantly lower than the control group (P <0.05). The number of bladder spasm during indwelling catheter was significantly lower (P<0.05). The prevalence of urinary tract infection and urine bacteria after irrigation and urine culture was significantly better than the control group (P<0.05). The overall comfort, patient satisfaction and satisfaction with nurses were significantly increased (P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with the common three-chamber catheter, the modified catheter can shorten the total hospitalization time of patients, reduce the manual washing time of nurses, reduce the bladder washing time, shorten the days of indwelling catheter, reduce the frequency of bladder spasm, reduce urinary tract infection, increase the comfort of patients, and improve the satisfaction of patients and nurses. It has important clinical significance and is worth promoting.
