Abstract: Objective To analyze the expression and clinical significance of FHIT protein and mRNA in esophageal carcinoma. Methods A total of 60 samples from patients with esophageal cancer in Chifeng Hospital from March 2019 to October 2021 were retrospectively selected as the case group and 60 samples from patients with normal esophageal tissue in the endoscopy room were selected as the control group. The expression of FHIT protein and mRNA in the two groups were statistically analyzed, and the correlation between FHIT mRNA in the case group and clinicopathological parameters was analyzed. Results Compared with the normal tissues of the control group, the deletion and weak expression rates of FHIT protein in the cancer tissues and adjacent tissues of the case group were higher, and the normal expression rates were lower, the diffierence was statistically signicant (P<0.05). Compared with adjacent tissues, the expression rate of FHIT protein deletion in cancer tissues was higher, and the weak and normal expression rates were lower, the diffierence was statistically signicant (P<0.05). Compared with the normal tissue of the control group, the deletion rate of FHIT mRNA in the cancer tissue and paracancerous tissue of the case group was higher, the diffierence was statistically signicant (P<0.05), and compared with the paracancerous tissue, the deletion rate of FHIT mRNA in the cancer tissue was higher, the diffierence was statistically signicant (P<0.05). Compared with patients with stage I, the FHIT protein deletion rate and mRNA deletion rate of patients with stage Ⅱ+Ⅲ+Ⅳ in the case group were higher, the diffierence was statistically signicant (P<0.05). Compared with well-differentiated patients, the expression rate of FHIT protein deletion and mRNA deletion rate were higher in patients with low and medium differentiation, the diffierence was statistically signicant (P<0.05). Compared with patients without lymph node metastasis, the FHIT protein deletion rate and mRNA deletion rate of patients with lymph node metastasis were higher, the diffierence was statistically signicant (P<0.05). Conclusion The loss expression rate of FHIT protein and mRNA in esophageal carcinoma tissues is increased, which can provide effective basis for clinical diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
