Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of Mengshi Guntan Pill combined with Aripiprazole in treating schizophrenia of phlegm fire upward disturbance type. Methods Using retrospective analysis, 100 patients with phlegm fire disturbance type schizophrenia who were treated in the Department of Psychiatry of Changping District Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital in Beijing from November 2021 to November 2022 were selected and divided into two groups based on different treatment methods. The control group was treated with Aripiprazole, and the observation group was treated with Mengshi Guntan Pill combined with Aripiprazole. Two groups were treated for 2 months. The mental symptoms and social function scores, treatment effects of the two groups were evaluated, and the levels of serum Melatonin (MT), Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) were detected. Results After treatment, the negative symptoms, general psychopathological symptoms, positive symptom scores, and total PANSS score of the two groups were significantly reduced, and the observation group was even lower (P<0.05). The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was 97.92%, which was higher than that of 80.77% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the social responsibility, social activities, self-care ability, interest in life, and social interaction scores of the two groups were significantly reduced, and the observation group were lower (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum MT, 5-HT, and TSH in both groups were significantly increased, and the observation group were higher (P<0.05). Conclusion The combination of Mengshi Guntan Pill and Aripiprazole has a significant therapeutic effect on phlegm fire disturbance type schizophrenia, which can significantly alleviate mental symptoms, improve social function, and serum MT, 5-HT, and TSH levels in patients.
