Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of Xiaochaihu powder combined with paediatric paracetamol and pseudoephedrine tablets in the treatment of gastrointestinal cold and its influence on the expression of serum inflammatory factors. Methods From January 2022 to January 2023, 100 children with gastrointestinal cold who were treated in Jilin Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital were selected as the research subjects. Accorded to the principle of 1:1 random envelope drawing, 100 children were divided into two groups: the control group (50 cases) and the experimental group (50 cases). The control group were treated with paediatric paracetamol pseudoanesthesia tablets. The experimental group were treated with Xiaochaihu powder on the basis of the treatment of the control group. The two groups were treated and observed for 7 days, The therapeutic effect and the expression of serum inflammatory factors in the two groups were observed and recorded. Results After treatment, the total effective rates of the experimental group were 98.00%, which were significantly higher than that of the control group (84.00%, P<0.05). The disappearance time of cough, runny nose, stuffy nose, fever, lung rale and other symptoms in the experimental group were significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence rates of adverse reactions such as headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, general soreness and dry mouth in the experimental group during the treatment period were 6.00%, and there were no significant difference compared with 8.00% in the control group (P>0.05). The C-reactive protein and lymphocyte counts in the two groups after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment (P<0.05), and the C-reactive protein and lymphocyte counts in the experimental group after treatment were also significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the contents of IgG and IgA in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment (P<0.05). After treatment, the contents of IgG and IgA in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Xiaochaihu powder combined with paediatric paracetamol pseudoephedrine tablets can promote the relief of clinical symptoms, improve the treatment effect, and will not increase the occurrence of adverse reactions. It can also effectively inhibit the expression of inflammatory factors and improve the immune function of children.
