Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of traditional Chinese medicine application combined with percutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation on improving intestinal function after cesarean section. Methods Primiparas who planned to undergo cesarean section operation in the Obstetrics Department of Zaozhuang Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2019 to December 2022 were selected as the research objects. They were randomly divided into control group and intervention group, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine application, while the intervention group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine application combined with percutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation. The recovery time of intestinal function, gastrointestinal function symptoms, nursing satisfaction rate and other indicators of the two groups were analyzed. Results After intervention, compared with the control group, the anal exhaust time, bowel sound recovery time and first anal defecation time in the intervention group were shorter (P<0.05). After intervention, the incidence and severity of abdominal distension in the intervention group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the nursing satisfaction rate of the intervention group was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). After the intervention, the physical function, role function, cognitive function, social function and overall health status score increased in two groups, and the intervention group was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). After the intervention, the symptom domain score in two groups decreased, and the intervention group was significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine application combined with percutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation plays a positive role in improving intestinal function after cesarean section. It can shorten the time of anal exhaust, the time of intestinal sound returning to normal and the time of first anal defecation, reduce the incidence and severity of abdominal distension, improve patients' satisfaction and quality of life.
